This past year marks a pivotal moment as we embark on our “Impact-driven regeneration strategy.” This strategy is not merely a new initiative; it is a profound articulation of our long-term aspirations, designed to align every facet of our operations with the urgent global need for a more sustainable future. While the full scope of this strategy will unfold throughout 2025, its foundational principles – regenerative practices, unwavering transparency, uncompromised integrity, and relentless innovation – are already guiding our every decision.
Sustainability at Selenis is overseen directly by our leadership. Our robust governance structures, including the Board of Directors, the Executive management team, and our dedicated Sustainability Committee, ensure that ESG considerations are integrated at the highest levels. We have established formal processes to proactively identify, assess, and manage both sustainability risks and opportunities, embedding these considerations within our core business operations.
The global landscape of 2024 presented its share of complexities, from geopolitical uncertainties to dynamic regulatory changes such as the EU’s CSRD, PPWR, and evolving EPR developments. Furthermore, the availability and price structure of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials continued to pose significant challenges. Despite these external pressures, Selenis remains steadfast in its commitment to proactive leadership, ensuring regulatory readiness, and fostering deep collaboration with our stakeholders. The Board and management recognise their profound responsibility to integrate ESG goals seamlessly into our corporate strategy and risk management frameworks, ensuring resilience and sustainable growth.
Looking back at 2024, I am particularly proud of several key achievements that underscore our dedication. The successful Syre partnership demonstrated our capacity for groundbreaking innovation in circular textile to textile solutions.
Our commitment to climate action was solidified by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), setting us on a clear path towards decarbonisation. We completed a comprehensive LCA review to better understand and reduce our environmental footprint, and launched our Social impact strategy, reinforcing our commitment to our communities and people. We also saw the expansion of our Selcare sustainable healthcare portfolio, delivering greener solutions to a critical sector, and continued to strengthen our safety culture across all operations. These accomplishments are testaments to our strong commitment to the circular economy and decarbonisation.
Our commitment to business ethics remains non-negotiable. Selenis maintains a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and discrimination in all its forms. Our comprehensive ethical guidelines, including our Code of Ethics and Supplier Code of Conduct, are readily available to all employees and suppliers, supported by active training and awareness programmes. We are dedicated to promoting safe working conditions, fostering diversity, and ensuring fair compensation across all our operations, while upholding our commitment to freedom of association and collective bargaining.
None of these achievements would be possible without the extraordinary resilience, dedication, and innovation of our employees and partners. Their collective efforts are the driving force behind our progress.
As we look ahead to 2025, Selenis will accelerate its sustainability vision and strategy. We are committed to accelerating decarbonisation with the setting of science-based targets, leading sustainable innovation to develop next-generation materials, empowering integrity throughout our value chain, and scaling regenerative solutions that benefit both planet and people.
I invite all our employees, customers, and partners to join us in this critical endeavour. Through our collective efforts, we can truly drive regeneration, foster innovation, and create a lasting positive impact for generations to come.
