Letter from the President

2023 has been a year in which we continued to build our strong foundations to improve and expand our operations, while keeping our constant commitment to sustainability and regenerative practices.

We worked across our four priority areas: fostering sustainable growth by embedding our values in our company culture, diversifying product offerings and markets, emphasising sustainability to differentiate the Group's commitment, and identifying synergies across businesses to optimise value capture and retention. These priorities are aimed at achieving both long-term aspirations and immediate objectives, driving our group towards a more sustainable and regenerative future while capitalising on its scale, integration, and resources.

Selenis believes that the path towards a greener and a waste-free future is only possible by navigating along three roads: recycling, recyclability and bio-based. This is why the preceding year marked the beginning of several strategic partnerships within the sustainability ecosystem. We successfully incorporated a textile-to-textile consortium, enabling us to accelerate our chemical recycling technology whilst tackling a severe issue on the today’s world; certified the recyclability of our resins, continuing to pave our way into a closed loop economy; partnered and deployed several projects within the bio-based sphere, contributing to a lower carbon footprint and connecting the entire plastic value chain.

As part of our growth and diversification strategy, in 2023 Selenis launched a new medical brand for the healthcare industry: SelcareTM. We worked together with suppliers, technical teams and clients in developing our proposition to support healthcare customers looking for more sustainable alternatives, while ensuring the highest standards on technical and regulatory compliance.

Circularity, bio-materials, renewable energy, and energy efficiency are part of our key strategies towards our goals of reduction of our carbon footprint. To reinforce our decarbonization plans, we adhered to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), as a complement to our ongoing calculation of Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) of all our products. These initiatives are part of our commitment to transparency and reduction of carbon footprint.

Another important milestone in 2023 was the certification of our production facilities Portugal under ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management systems. This achievement underscores our dedication to upholding the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental responsibility.

Looking ahead, our focus remains on driving regenerative management practices, fostering innovation, and strengthening partnerships to create lasting positive impacts. We are actively engaged in initiatives such as the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty, demonstrating our commitment to collaborative solutions for tackling plastic pollution.

In conclusion, I want to express my gratitude to our employees, customers, partners, and other stakeholders for their unwavering support and dedication to our sustainability journey. Together, we will continue to lead the way towards a more sustainable and regenerative future.
